I just got this device, used it for less than an hour, and it has already stopped working.
When I first tried to access the AppsLib, it crashed and wouldn't reopen. The Archos 48 came with firmware version 1.9.21 (Android 1.6) installed, and once I connected to my WIFI, it notified me that a version 2 firmware was available. I updated it from the device itself, but after it said that "Update OK. Device will now restart to finalize the update.", it restarted -- but it would NOT get pass the "Archos Entertainment your way" boot-up screen (I've waited a good 10 minutes).
I tried resetting the device (both holding the on/off button for 10 seconds and also the pinhole reset button), but still had the same problem of not getting past the boot screen.
I looked up on the internet about many other people having boot-up problems with previous models of Archos and how to troubleshoot; there was one last hope for me by entering... Read more

Simple purchase for me. I wanted something big enough to hold my entire mp3 library and this is the only thing out there that will do it. I abhor Apple. This will replace my trusty Zen Vision:M 60Gb. Received unit, updated firmware and everything seemed OK. Touch calibration and accelerometer are a little wonky but they are decent. After a little searching, I've got access to Android Market and already have Angry Birds running on the device. Time will tell on reliability, but my initial impressions are good. You'll need to buy a charger, as USB takes forever to charge. I love that I can run Linux on this if I want. Firmware changes are easy (I've done a couple now). I still have to load my library on this, but I'm loving the screen and Android apps so far. For $199, it is a steal. Amazon credited me $60 for the difference of my purchase price when they dropped to $199, which is why I keep buying stuff here. If you buy this, be prepared to ask for some help on... Read more

This is the first time I've had something like this and I do have to say I'm not impressed. Guess I'm just a bit too much old school as I don't think we need as many play toys in our lives like these. I do have to say however that it does have a ton of storage space and downloading music is ultra fast. Played solitare on this also and it seems to be good for playing games such as that but not sure about any of the action games since they are not my style.
Let's do this the easy way:
Things I liked about this; 1. large storage space 2. ultra fast downloading 3. great for simple mindless games such as cards 4. great color for photos and the clarity is wonderful 5. hooked up my wifi with no problems thank goodness and it has a longer range of reception (my daughter told me about the longer range)

I wanted to use my iPad 2 as a stereo while enjoying our pool without worrying about electrical outlets and power cords. With a 10 hour rechargeable battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, and compact design, the Philips Fidelio line caught my attention. While researching which model to buy, a friend received the modern looking DS7700 2 lb 1 oz docking speaker station. The Philips DS7700 is a truly exceptional sound dock that matches my iPad2 and iPod Touch very well. While not cheap, I think it is a very good value compared to other premium portable sound options with bluetooth.
The good stuff:
- Elegant and Practical Form Factor. I have used quite a few iPod docks, of all sizes. This is the first highly portable one I have tried that sounds good. About 1 foot long, but only an inch thick, its cover and rounded design make it simple to throw into a suitcase or laptop/messenger bag to enjoy on trips. It has an aluminum shell, and when closed, has no overhanging switches to get caught on stuff. Its beautifully finished metal case feels solid and matches the elegant design of the iPad/Pod itself.

I purchased this item to use with an IPad 3. Upon reciept I excitedly opened it it up, plugged it in, and docked my IPad to it. It was at this point that I noticed a potential problem: It wasn't really made for an IPad: The IPad is just too heavy. It worked the first few times, but as the IPad rests it leans back, putting stress on the connector where it plugs in. Sure enough, by the 2nd day, when docking the IPad it no longer will play sounds through the speaker. The connector where it docks has loosened and now the only way for the IPad to register that it's docked is to grab it, lean it forward, and press slightly down. As soon as you even think of letting go though, it disconnects. The worst part? You can't even return it! Read the description above: it has rechargeable batteries.
